Small Muscles Are A Big Deal!  Your child may not yet be ready to cut with scissors or write with a crayon – but this is an important time for the development of fine-motor skills in any form.  Gluing, stamping, painting, and other artistic activities are great early exercise that get those small muscles moving in directed ways.  So:

  • Plant  a seed
  • Stick tissue paper to contact paper
  • Paint paper with watery glue and stick things to it
  • Sort beads or buttons into bowls
  • Move dry beans with a spoon from one bowl to another.
